A non-profit education organization based in Cape May County, NJ.

We offer hands-on, nature-based learning experiences for children and families, with an emphasis on art, history, and community.

Through homeschool co-op classes, social and educational clubs, seasonal events, and immersive arts and ecology programs, we serve families who seek alternatives to traditional education—especially those in transient or homeschooling communities, including Coast Guard families and those with limited access to enrichment opportunities.

Our programs celebrate the land, history, and stories of South Jersey, helping families grow together through place-based learning and intergenerational connection.

Our methods help to preserve a child’s natural-born curiosity, imagination, and love for learning.

Our Story

Founded by Stephanie Wiscott and Sarah Pron in 2019, Deeply Rooted Learning Center was created when two teachers saw a BIG need for two things: more time with family, and more time in nature connecting with God and each other. Pivoting from teaching to homeschooling in an effort to spend more time with their children they began with community Nature Walks which we continue today. As families met and connections grew a physical home was needed. The first Deeply Rooted Learning Center was opened in Villas, NJ where it grew for a number of years before operations moved to a larger space at Cape Community Church. The new space includes room for a library, classroom space, event space, and even three raised beds for a community garden.

Since our founding in 2019 our community has expanded exponentially, demonstrating the need for meaningful, affordable education that honors both nature and heritage. Deeply Rooted Learning Center continues the founders’ visions of cultivating a space where children’s God-given gifts are celebrated and their natural love for learning is embraced.

As we look to the future, we are preparing to launch our next chapter—a Living History Farm that will bring the lessons of the past to life and connect children more deeply with the land, their history, and one another.

Our Living History Farm will be a place where families can gather to plant, harvest, cook, and create—while exploring the traditions, stories, and skills that have sustained South Jersey communities for generations.

With heirloom gardens, cultural workshops, storytelling spaces, and sustainable building practices, this farm will be a living classroom where nature and humanities grow side by side.

This project is rooted in our mission to empower the next generation with practical skills, cultural knowledge, and a deep connection to place.
