Are you looking for an enriching, hands-on educational experience for your child? At Deeply Rooted Learning Center, our co-op offers a unique blend of art, history, and ecology rooted in the natural beauty and rich heritage of Cape May County.
For some families, co-ops simply fill the gaps of homeschooling by allowing for enrichment activities or aiding in socialization for their homeschooled children. They may meet once a week or once a month for full- or part-time schedules. The focus is often on the electives or extracurriculars offered by traditional schools that homeschooled kids might miss. They also focus on socialization, which is especially important for children whose exposure to other kids may be limited when being homeschooled.
Another option for a co-op includes several parents working within the confines of a set curriculum to educate their children together. They often switch off, whether by subject or day, and take turns educating each other's children. This "it takes a village" approach helps parents by shifting and sharing the responsibility of educating their kids.
Our co-op is open to children ages 6 to 14 and consists of Art Class & Ecology Class every week from 12:30-2:30.
With group activities designed for both kids and teens, your child will dive deep into creative learning that nurtures their natural curiosity and sense of wonder.
Co-op sessions are held every Wednesday afternoon and are divided into age-appropriate groups:
Our Spring Ecology and Art Co-op offers an engaging mix of art, nature, and local history, tailored to two age groups: K-4 and 5-8. Here's a snapshot of the subjects covered and activities students will experience:
Winter Wildlife and Habitats: Learn about animal adaptations to winter through hands-on art and ecology activities like creating animal tracks and researching hibernation behaviors.
Maple Syrup Tapping: Explore the history and process of maple syrup production with activities like tree collages and syrup-making demonstrations.
Cape May’s Whaling History: Examine the impact of whaling with creative painting and storytelling activities.
Coastal Erosion and Protection: Learn about beach erosion and solutions through interactive experiments and research presentations.
Cape May’s Wildflowers: Appreciate native wildflowers through painting and botanical illustrations.
Each session is carefully crafted to integrate art, and Cape May County history and ecology, bringing together local stories and the environment in a way that inspires a love of learning. From exploring the past through art to understanding the natural world through ecological activities, our co-op encourages children to make connections across subjects while staying engaged and curious.
